William Edward Cureton, II was born October 6, 1963 in Oconee County, SC.  Graduated from Walhalla High School in 1981.   Graduated from Clemson University in 1985, with a B.S. degree in Matematical Sciences, with a minor in Operations Research.  He moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1985 to land his first career job at Vulcan Materials Company.  William is currently the Marketing Senior Systems Analyst there in the Corporate Marketing Support Systems department of Vulcan Materials Company in Birmingham, Alabama.

William is also the pastor and founder of the Image and Glory of God Ministries in Birmingham.  He has been preaching in the ministry since he was around 16 years old.  He hosts a local TV ministry broadcast every Monday night at 7:00 PM on Birmingham Time Warner Cable.

William started his gardening career in 1997, when he bought his 3 acre farm home in Lincoln, Alabama.  He wanted to learn how to effectively grow things naturally and economically without messing up.  One of his church members, organic garden partner, and long time friend, Peggy Gomer, helped guide him toward the Birmingham Botanical Gardens library. There they both found countless books on organic gardening and composting.  It wasn't long until they both knew that this was exactly what they wanted to do and learn more about the subject.

Soon the doors began to open.   The botanical garden librarian recommended William to teach a series of nightly adult organic gardening classes to laymen on what they had learned.  Soon other gardening instructors wanted William and Peggy for other classes.  In the meantime, William became more and more famous as he was answering questions on internet gardening forums like www.GardenWeb.comwww.OrganicGardening.com, and www.HGTV.com.

William and Peggy have mastered the art and science of making tons of homemade compost through a special hot  composting process.  They have also received certified honorary Master Gardeners/Composters recognition from the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) located at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. They both can make a ton of mature compost every 2-6 weeks! Also they have designed several, special aerated compost tea recipes for literallly every need in the garden and lawn, from plant fertilization, soil improvement, pest and disease control, biostimulation for the topsoil, and for nitrogen/microbial activation for speedy hot composting.

Now William is the main author of the organic gardening forum FAQ page on GardenWeb.com. He is also moderator of the composting forum on DirtDoctor.com.  He is known on all gardening websites as "CaptainCompostAL"  (The Captain Compost of Alabama).
